Opening reception Thursday, July 18, 7:30-9:00pm, cosponsored by Energiya Global, an Israeli solar energy company with a major project at The Agahozo Shalom Youth Village in Rwanda.
After working in The Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village in Rwanda in 2010, Fredman began using African textiles to explore Rwandan life in juxtaposition with her Jewish identity.
By drawing upon traditional Jewish texts to reflect an experience deeply embedded in Rwandan life, she created an interpretation of two distinct worlds illuminated by one another through a common narrative.
